Music Festival Logo

Deadline: End of Week 7 Term 1
Introduction
There are a number of musical festivals happening in summer 2009. The promoters have approached local design schools to create a logo for the events. Your logo must include lines, curves, shading, 3-dimensional perspectives and text. You must then place your logo on a t-shirt or bag to show your what your design would look like.
Pick which of the following you would like to work with:
• Dance: Electric Boogaloo
• Hip Hop: Bling Beats
• Rock / pop: Download
• Jazz / Folk: Under the Willow
• Emo / Goth: The End
• Regae / Roots: Red Dub
Tasks
Visual diary
Research into logo design, what are logos used for? Good design? Different types of design?
A variety thumbnail sketches and ideas for your logo design, you must say which one you are choosing to develop and explain why.
Blog - Outline
Create a step-by-step outline to describe the steps you will follow to produce your design.
Justify the tools you have selected to produce your design.
Describe the shape of the illustration, and identify the techniques to be used to create it.
Blog - Research into computer design
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of computer design illustration.
Compare computer design to other forms of design illustration production.
Blog - Brief
Describe the purpose and communication objectives of your logo. What must your logo include? Who is the audience? How will it be used?
Create your logo
Using illustrator follow the steps you have outlined in your blog to create your logo as a vector image.
Create your t-shirt or bag
Using Photoshop create your item follow the steps you have outlined in your blog to create the texture and place your logo.
Evaluation
Evaluate your logo against the outline and logo against the brief.
Assessment
You should use the tick sheet on the back of your assignment outline to self and peer assess your work and progress. Work can be carried out in class or at home. Progress will be monitored via visual diaries and blogs.

Example of good work
Your visual diary should include; brainstorms, thumbnail sketches, concept design, research into effects, tools and techniques and design. Your sketches should be annotated to describe different elements of your design for example font, colour, layout as well as justifying (saying why) you have made these decisions. Gantt chart
Gantt charts are used to plan and organise our time for the length of a project. Useing your brief you should decide the order of tasks and when you plan to carry them out. Here is an example of one:
